Hull Ferry to Boston
The Hull ferry is the MBTA's Hingham/Hull Ferry. It leaves from Pemberton Point at the north tip of Hull and runs to Long Wharf in downtown Boston, with some trips stopping at Logan Airport. The ride takes about 25 to 40 minutes and costs $9.75 one way. Weekday boats run all year; weekend boats are seasonal.
For a beach day from the city, it's a good way to skip the drive and the parking fee. Get off at Pemberton Point and ride MBTA bus 714 down Nantasket Avenue to the beach.

Hull Ferry Schedule
The MBTA changes this schedule several times a year, so treat the times below as a pattern, not a timetable. The current PDFs are on the MBTA's Hingham/Hull Ferry page.
Weekdays (fall 2026 schedule): most Boston-bound boats leave Hull in the morning commute, at 6:00, 7:00, 7:30, 8:05, 8:40 and 9:10 AM. After that there were only two more, at 1:20 PM and 6:15 PM. Boats from Boston reach Hull through the day and into the evening.
Weekends (September 12 to October 11, 2026): boats left Hull for Long Wharf at 8:20, 10:20 and 11:20 AM and at 1:20, 3:20, 4:20, 6:20 and 9:00 PM. Boats from Long Wharf reached Hull at 9:35 AM and 12:35, 2:35, 3:35, 4:35, 5:35, 6:35, 7:35 and 8:15 PM.
Weekend service is seasonal. The 2026 fall weekend schedule replaced one dated June 13, and weekend boats stopped after October 11. Expect a new summer schedule before the 2027 beach season and check it before you plan around a boat.
Late boats need a heads-up. On the last weekday trips, and the last trips on weekend nights, the Hull stop is drop-off only and the boat goes to Hull only if you ask for it when you board in Boston.
Taking the Ferry to Nantasket Beach
Pemberton Point is at the far north end of Hull, and the beach is to the south along Nantasket Avenue. MBTA bus 714 starts at the Hull Ferry Terminal and runs down Nantasket Avenue and Hull Shore Drive past the beach on its way to Hingham. On much of the route you can flag it down anywhere safe.
The 714's printed schedule shifts its trips to meet the Hull ferry, and lists which bus connects with which boat, on weekdays and weekends. The local bus fare is $1.70, and children 11 and under ride free. Connections aren't guaranteed, so leave some slack on the trip home.
A simple beach-day plan: take a morning boat from Long Wharf, catch the connecting 714 to the beach, and work backward from the last good boat home. On weekdays that matters most, since afternoon boats from Hull to Boston are few. Our Parking & Directions page has the rest of the bus details if you'd rather drive part of the way.
Fares and How to Pay
A one-way trip between Hull and Boston costs $9.75, or $4.85 with a reduced-fare card. A monthly Hingham/Hull ferry pass is $319. If you ride only between the Boston stops, such as Long Wharf to Logan, you pay the inner harbor fare of $2.40. Full details are on the MBTA's ferry fares page.
- mTicket app: one-way, round-trip, reduced and monthly ferry tickets.
- Contactless payment: tap a card or phone.
- Paper tickets: sold onboard and at the Rowes Wharf and Hingham booths. There's no ticket machine at Pemberton Point.
- Cash: accepted on the Hingham/Hull boats.
- Not accepted: CharlieCards don't work on the ferry.
Hull Ferry Parking
If you don't live in Hull, don't park in the main ferry lot. The Town of Hull limits it, and other posted spaces near the dock, to residents with a Hull parking sticker. The MBTA lists that lot at 200 spaces, and in October 2026 part of it was blocked off for sewer pump station work.
Non-residents park in the Helen Lot, at the corner of Helen and Channel Streets. It costs a flat $2 a day with no time limit, paid through PayByPhone (zone 398603). Overnight parking near the ferry is residents only.
Accessibility at the Dock
The MBTA says most of its docks are accessible, but the ramp angle changes with the tide and the boat, so you may meet steep slopes and narrow walkways. Wait for a crew member to tell you it's safe to board. Tide range here is large; our Tides page shows how far the water drops in a day.
